TECH 109: Air Conditioning

Credits 2
This lecture/lab type course covers various air conditioning and heating units used on modern vehicles and other equipment. The student will learn principles of air-conditioning along with repair procedures; leak detecting, evacuation and trouble-shooting procedures. This is a half semester course. (F, S)

TECH 112: Applied Transportation Electronics

Credits 3
A lecture, demonstration and performance course covering the basic fundamentals of electronics. Included is the study of Ohm¿s Law, series and parallel circuits, test instruments and various semiconductors. Also included is the study of electrical symbols and wiring diagrams of accessory circuits as found in manufacturers service manuals. This is a half-semester course. It is offered the first and second halves of both semesters.

TECH 121: Engine Fundamentals

Credits 3
A theory and lab course covering basic engine operating principles, cylinder and piston service, valve service, crankshaft and bearing service, lubrication systems, rebuilding procedures, measurement fundamentals and basic engine troubleshooting. This is a half-semester course. (F, S)

TECH 130: Industrial Safety

Credits 2
A basic study covering occupational safety standards and codes with emphasis on applications to typical industrial, construction and shop situations. Topics include: the role of OSHA and other regulatory agencies, fire protection, hazardous materials, personal protection, operational and construction safety, as well as the study of accident causation and prevention. (As needed)

Credits 1
A course designed to meet special departmental needs during new course development. It is used for one year after which time the course is assigned a different number.
