Most cybersecurity work happens behind the scenes, protecting people and organizations who don't know they're under threat and before an attack occurs.
Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting programs, computer networks and digital information from threats. Cybersecurity might be a good career for you if you are a detail-oriented, analytical person with a collaborative mindset and the ability to improvise.
This certificate provides a foundation for Cybersecurity Essentials. A peripheral objective is to provide an opportunity for new or recent graduates to acquire advanced skills in Cybersecurity.
Specifically, it will meet the following objectives: Foster a high-quality, student centered education.
- Provide students with a broad overview of the field and introduce them to recent advances and current research problems.
- Emphasize ethical, economic, social, and legal impacts of Security technologies.
After successfully completing the Cybersecurity Essentials certificate, students are prepared to take the CCST Cybersecurity (CISCO Certified support Technician) Certification exam. The applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent.
NOTE: This program requires either an HP EliteBook 850 or ZBOOK 15 laptop or equivalent. Please refer to the NDSCS website for specifications. The cost will be approximately $1065.00 for the Elite Book 850 and $2100.00 for the ZBOOK 15, if purchased through NDSCS. For further information, contact the NDSCS ITS department at 701-671-3333 option 5.
