This course covers the fundamentals of computer hardware and software. This course helps students prepare for the CompTIA A+ Essentials exam (220-1001), which covers the fundamentals of computer technology, networking, and security, and validates the communication skills and professionalism required of all entry-level IT professionals. Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of the computer, assemble a computer system, install an operating system, and troubleshoot using system tools and diagnostic software. Students will also be able to connect to the Internet and share resources in a networked environment. Topics included are laptops and portable devices, wireless connectivity, security, safety and environmental issues, and communication skills. Hands-on activities are essential items of the course.
