The Automotive Technology program is designed to prepare students for the many employment opportunities in the automotive industry.
Students enrolled in Automotive Technology learn the theory of operation along with the latest repair and diagnostic procedures available in the automotive industry. Training facilities are in excellent condition and labs are very well-equipped.
Hybrid/EV technology is addressed through changes in emission standards and alternative fuels that will continue to advance changes in this industry.
Students graduating from Automotive Technology are fully employable upon completion of this program. Automotive Technology graduates are employed by manufacturers, dealerships, independent repair facilities, and private companies.
The Automotive Technology program is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, Inc. (NATEF) ASE
Admission Requirements*
The applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent. Students considered for acceptance must complete all admission requirements.

Award
Upon successful completion of the required courses, students will be awarded a certificate in Automotive Engine Technology. This certificate is one of four stackable certificates for the completion of an AAS degree in Automotive Technology.
NOTE: Students may enter this program at the beginning of any 8-week period. Please contact the Automotive Department for more information.
Engine Certificate
This Automotive Engine certificate allows students to cover rebuilding and repair of engines used in automobiles. Students will troubleshoot, disassemble, rebuild, and assemble an engine during this class. Learning modules include measurement fundamentals, basic engine operating principals, cylinder and piston service, cylinder head rebuilding, crankshaft and bearing service, lubrication, and cooling systems.
Students gain knowledge in operation, troubleshooting, rebuilding, and tuning all types of automotive engines. Work includes disassembly, assembly, timing, and adjustments common to automotive engines used in the transportation industry. In addition, this certificate includes a class on the procedures and practices used to develop fundamental industrial shop skills. Students will learn to apply a variety of practical skills used to aid in any entry level industrial mechanical service occupation.
