PLMB 101: Core Curriculum for Plumbers

Credits 2

The Core Curriculum consists of nine individual modules which are: Basic Safety, Introduction to Hand Tools; Introduction to Power Tools; Introduction to Blueprints; Basic Communication Skills; Basic Employability Skills and Introduction to Materials Handling.

PLMB 102: Plumbing Theory

Credits 2

A study of general Plumbing topics that will be essential while working in the field. There will be an emphasis on plumbing history, plumbing math, plumbing fixtures and fittings, DWV systems, water systems introduction into service plumbing and other essential topics in the plumbing industry.

PLMB 103: Plumbing Code I

Credits 2

A study of the Uniform Plumbing Code that is recognized in North Dakota. The course covers definitions and general regulations as they pertain to the UPC. A detailed study of the code as it regulates our trade and protects the public health.

PLMB 104: Plumbing Code II

Credits 2

A study of the Uniform Plumbing Code that is recognized in North Dakota. The course covers fixtures and plumbing systems as they pertain to the UPC. A detailed study of the code as it regulates our trade and protects the public health.

PLMB 105: Plumbing Code III

Credits 2

A study of the Uniform Plumbing Code that is recognized in North Dakota. The course covers plumbing systems and indirect wastes as they pertain to the UPC. A detailed study of the code as it regulates our trade and protects the public health.

PLMB 106: Plumbing Code IV

Credits 2

A student of the Uniform Plumbing Code that is recognized in North Dakota. The course covers venting, traps and interceptors, and firestop protection as they pertain to the UPC. A detailed study of the code as it regulates our trade and protects the public health.

PLMB 111: Plumbing Lab I

Credits 3

Hands-on learning of the plumbing trade. Students will learn the proper name for plumbing fittings. The course includes the installation of plumbing pipes, fittings, and some basic fixtures that you will encounter on the job. Students will make sure that the Uniform Plumbing Code is implemented on all jobs installed in the lab.

PLMB 112: Plumbing Lab II

Credits 3

Hands-on learning of the plumbing trade. The course includes the installation of plumbing for toilets and sinks in a residential setting. Students will make sure that the Uniform Plumbing Code is implemented on all jobs installed in the lab.

PLMB 113: Plumbing Lab III

Credits 3

Hands-on learning of the plumbing trade. The course includes the installation of plumbing for showers, tub/shower, clothes washers, and laundry sinks in a residential setting. Students will make sure that the Uniform Plumbing Code is implemented on all jobs installed in the lab.

PLMB 114: Plumbing Lab IV

Credits 3

Hands-on learning of the plumbing trade. The course includes the installation of plumbing for urinals, wall hung water closets, water heaters, and other commercial fixtures. Students will make sure that the Uniform Plumbing Code is implemented on all jobs installed in the lab.

PLMB 115: Residential Plumbing Application

Credits 1

Installation of drain, waste, and vent (DMV) and water supply systems in a residential setting. Students will use all applicable codes to install a whole house plumbing system.

PLMB 132: Blueprint Reading I

Credits 2

A study and practice in measuring and blueprint reading, with a detailed study of the residential and light commercial plans that pertain to plumbing and mechanical installations.

PLMB 133: Blueprint Reading II

Credits 2

A study and practice in measuring and blueprint reading, with a detailed study of the commercial plans that pertain to plumbing and mechanical installations.

PLMB 292: Experimental Course

Credits 1
A course designed to meet special departmental needs during new course development. It is used for one year after which time the course is assigned a different number.

PLMB 297: Cooperative Education

Credits 1
Cooperative Education offers students the opportunity to integrate career, social and personal development into the educational process. The cooperative education program allows students to integrate classroom study with a paid work experience related to their fields of study. It is recommended that a student has successfully completed one year of academic study.
