Students will learn the types of fires and aircraft fire zones, overheat and fire detection warning systems, smoke and carbon monoxide detection systems, and fire extinguishing agents. They will identify and mitigate the risks associated with the maintenance on circuits associated with fire bottle squibs, the use of PPE when working on or testing fire extinguishing systems, and the health risks of various fire extinguishing agents. Students will troubleshoot a fire detection system, inspect a carbon monoxide detector, perform an operational check of a fire protection system, and inspect a continuous-loop type fire detection system.
