Program Information:
The Bachelor of Applied Science Dental Hygiene degree program is designed to prepare students to advance their career as a dental hygienist.

This online program is designed to expand the knowledge of a licensed dental hygienist in a convenient learning environment for the working professional.

Career Opportunities
The Bachelor of Applied Science degree will expand the workforce opportunities of a licensed dental hygienist. Dental hygienists can apply their advanced skills and knowledge in career activities including public health, corporate dental representative, research, dental office management, and dental hygiene education.

Dental Hygiene Curriculum
This program is for current Dental Hygienists who are licensed and have successfully completed a program accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation. Students that are currently in the second year of a AAS or AS program are eligible to take courses concurrently in the BAS program.

This degree requires a minimum of 120 credits. If all core and general education requirements are met and the student is short the minimum 120 credits, they should work with their advisor on appropriate courses to fulfill the minimum credit requirement.

Admission/Selection Requirements:
Applicants can begin the program courses any semester. Courses do not need to be taken in any specific order.

1. Complete the NDSCS Admission process and submit an official high school transcript and all official college transcripts to Enrollment Services.
2. Complete required general education courses.
   1. An A.A. or A.S. in Liberal Arts degree should meet the general education courses for this program.
3. To be fully admitted, students would need to have completed/awarded their associate's degree in Dental Hygiene from a CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) accredited program/institution.  
4. Complete the Supplemental Program Application for Dental Hygiene - BAS.

This program requires access to a personal laptop and printer, capable of completing the assignments/testing required by the program, with a current operating system and webcam/microphone. Tablets and Chromebooks are not compatible with online classes/testing.

Award:
Upon completion of the core and general education curriculum and have a minimum of 120 credits, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene.
