Program Information:
The Commercial Construction certificate prepares students with skills to work in related areas of the commercial construction industry. The program educates and trains the future workforce for the commercial construction industry with a unique blend of education and hands-on training. Graduates can work for builders, general contractors and subcontractors in commercial and industrial construction areas. Students develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to function on the construction site with the potential to advance into supervisory positions within the construction industry.
The certificate provides students with realistic classroom and laboratory experiences emphasizing concrete, metal stud construction, and steel frame construction. Students would take courses on print reading, construction safety, welding, and commercial finishes. In addition, students take their choice of courses in communications, technical mathematics, computer science. or English to help provide them with career-advancing skills.
While students are fully employable upon completion of the certificate, some may wish to continue their education by returning for additional semesters to earn an Associate of Applied Science In Building Construction Technology and/or Construction Management Technology.

Admission Requirements*:
The applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent. Students considered for acceplance must complete all admission requirements.
Please Note: Students are placed into English, math and reading courses based on ACT, ACCUPLACER or other nationally recognized tests. Please see

Award:
Upon successful completion of the required courses, students will be awarded a certificate in Commercial Construction.
